Chapter 7 - A virus?

The students who lived in the dormitory had already gone to class, but Chen Mo didn’t go. He already understood all the materials for the major courses, going to the classroom wasn’t going to be very useful for him.

After taking a bath, Chen Mo walked towards the counselor’s office.

The counselor and head teacher was a female teacher named Li Hong. Her looks were average and wouldn’t be considered beautiful. However, no one would toss her into the category of ugly either. The best thing about her was that her personality was rather gentle.

After he knocked on the door he walked into the office, Chen Mo sat down across from her.

“Chen Mo, is your body alright?” Li Hong asked, “Isn’t it class time right now? Why are you here?”

“Teacher, I wish to apply for an exception from attending lectures, as well as apply to live off campus.” Chen Mo said.

“No, I’m not trying to submit a thesis.” Chen Mo shook his head. “I’ve already learned all of the major course material for this term. It’s of little use for me to attend the classes.”

“If you aren’t working on a thesis then you can’t avoid attending your lectures. Unfortunately internships will only start during the second semester.” Li Hong said, “You want to avoid going to class because of your girlfriend right? When you’re unconscious, I went to visit you at the hospital. Your girlfriend is a good woman. She took a few days off to take care of you, or else I’d have had to notify your parents.”

Chen Mo smiled wryly. “This has nothing to do with my girlfriend. Besides, she wasn’t my girlfriend at that point in time.”

“Meaning she is now?”

“Teacher, that isn’t the important point.” Chen Mo couldn’t help but say,” The important point is that I want to apply for an exception and to live off-campus.”

“And what about the reason?” Li Hong said, “The school is very strict when it comes to how students should study. If you casually apply for an exception, then the other students will draw a gourd according to the pattern. That would not be good.”

“I’m preparing to start a business.”

Chen Mo could only give one reason.

“You actually want to start a business?” Li Hong looked at Chen Mo hesitantly. These days, under the cover of starting a business, there were quite a few students who just didn’t want to attend classes.

“What type of business are you planning to start?”

“Currently, I’m preparing to work in software development. I’ve finished my major courses since that’s what I’m studying. I have my hands full with that, so I don’t have time for classes,” Chen Mo said

“Due to saving people in the library, the school already has a high opinion of you. There are no problems with your character,” Li Hong said. “This teacher will trust you this once. Go back there and fill the application form.”

After leaving the instructor’s office, Chen Mo right away went to print out two application forms and filled out the application. He asked the teacher to sign and handed it over to Li Hong.

Chen Mo grabbed his computer and headed over to the library. He picked up over ten books related to computer programming, computer design, and hacking techniques.

Right now, he only had one goal: reading. He needed to read 100 books to obtain the next technology which would enable him to make money.

This was all for the money.

Time passed, nearly ten days in fact, and every day without fail he was reading books on computer-related topics. In his mind, more and more knowledge of computer-related skills had grown as he expanded his ability.

After a long period of struggle, the rewards he received were not just the computer knowledge he had studied. He was getting closer and closer to the goal of reading 100 books.

During this period of time, in order to adapt to his strength, physical training had become an indispensable task for him. In the remainder of his time, he would accompany Little Xiao to the library. Other than reading books, he would practice computer-based programming.

In the library’s study area, Chen Mo buried his head and quickly flipped through the books.

Countless words flashed through his mind. Not long after, Chen Mo closed the book in his hand and revealed a knowing smile.

Chen Mo wanted to enter the science and technology library to choose a new technology, but it would be a bit inconvenient to do it right now. He then turned to look at Xiao Yu beside him. “Xiao Yu, lets rest early today and come back tomorrow.”

“Alright.”

Xiao Yu smiled and nodded. She didn’t ask why, she just put away her book and left with Chen Mo.

Xiao Yu returned to the dormitory area and bid farewell to Chen Mo. Only then did Xiao Yu briskly head back to the dormitory. As soon as she entered the room, she was targeted by a few of her roommates.

The news of her falling in love had already spread around the dorm. Over the last ten days, Chen Mo had brought her back to the dorm while holding her hand every single day, so she couldn’t hide it from a few of her more gossipy friends.

“Xiao Yu, you’re back so early, aren’t you going to accompany your boyfriend?” Li Ruoxi revealed a mischievous smile.

“He has something he needs to do, so he sent me back first.” Xiao Yu said.

“Your boyfriend is desperate to protect you. His character is good, and he’s also ambitious. All of these things meet the best aspects to choose in a spouse.” Wang Xiaolan, who was wearing glasses, looked at her body in the mirror. “Why am I not that lucky?”

“You should take off those old man glasses and change to something  more refreshing. Also, you should change your clothes, put on some makeup, and get a new hairstyle. I guarantee that you won’t need more than a few days before you have waves of bees following after you.” Li Ruoxi teased.

“Am I the only one that cares if the best cabbage in our family has been eaten?” Zhou Tongtong, who was wearing a sleeping gown while eating snacks, looked at Xiao Yu with a look of gossip in her eyes.

The other two women also looked at Xiao Yu, waiting for her answer.

“No.”

Xiao Yu’s face turned red as she walked to her desk and opened the computer. Her intrusive housemates made her feel a bit uncomfortable.

“Are you all curious about this?” Li Ruoxi said, “You are still little girls.”

Li Ruoxi grabbed a U disk, climbed down from the bed, and ran to Little Xiao’s back to hug her. Li Ruoxi’s actions gave her a bad premonition.

“Little Yu, you’ll definitely do something happy in the future, right?” Li Ruoxi laughed wickedly.” I’ve collected an action film on the U disk, it will allow you to broaden your horizons and learn some techniques first.”

As soon as Li Ruoxi’s words were spoken, the three women almost vomited blood and died.

“Li Ruoxi, you scoundrel, don’t teach Little Yu such dirty things.” Zhou Tongtong immediately stopped the show and ran behind Little Yu to grab her.” Let her go, let me do it.”

“It’s everyone’s duty to teach Xiao Yu properly.” Wang Xiaolan also put on her nightgown and ran behind Xiao Yu.

“Don’t… don’t!”

Xiao Yu was held by Zhou Tongtong and Wang Xiaolan, unable to move. Li Ruoxi also controlled her computer.

“It’s currently being copied over. It’ll be ready to watch soon.”

“Could it possible be that it’s infected?” Wang Xiaolan asked.

“Impossible.” Li Ruoxi said, “This is my U disk. I’ve seen this action film before. Little Yu, don’t be in such a rush. Big Sister is going to show you something’ nice.”

“Can I not look?”

Thinking of what might happen next, Xiao Yu’s face turned red like blood. This wicked group of roommates were working in tandem so she couldn’t escape their claws.

“Everyone here is an adult, learn these techniques to ensure your happiness in the future.” Li Ruoxi said meaningfully.

“Can I learn it in the future? Far… in the future.”

Little Yu wanted to break free from their devilish claws, but she was restrained by the two women and could only sit obediently in her seat.

“It’ll be the same whether it happens sooner or later. I didn’t ask you to give it to him right now. The current man has to be determined. It’s best to give it to him after getting married.” Li Ruoxi laughed evilly, “Your computer is a bit stuck. It’s almost there.”

A minute later, after the copy was completed, Li Ruoxi immediately activated the video.

“It’s starting. The two of you grab Xiao Yu and don’t let her run away. Bring her the earbuds.”

“Don’t let her go.”

The little Yu’s face was so red that it was almost bleeding.

“What kind of thing is this FBI? It’s all in english, could it be infected with a virus?”

Zhou Tongtong blinked.

“It should be the description of the film! I’ll fast forward it. Little Yu, don’t be in a hurry and just relax.” Li Ruoxi chuckled and grabbed her mouse.

Ticking…

“Ah…”

As soon as her voice fell, the dormitory became deathly silent.

Li Ruoxi stared blankly at the computer screen. Wang Xiaolan and Zhou Tongtong’s faces were filled with disbelief.

The three of them didn’t say anything when they noticed that the earbuds hadn’t moved either. Xiao Yu’s tightly shut eyes slowly opened, and when he saw the computer screen, her gaze froze.

“Is this a virus?”
