The Moon Thief
Chapter 107: Strange Totem

Severe lightning streaks shook the entire region, the whole region began to collapse. Hit by multiple lightning streaks, the thick layer of ice on Spotted Volcano Gorilla shattered, completely severing an arm and a leg. The blood flowing from his severed limbs was like a kind of lava, burning the place where it fell within seconds.

"I've made a lot of noise...More Magical Beasts will be flocking here soon, I'd better hurry and get away from here." Heinald looked around and grit his teeth.

Spotted Volcano Gorilla was inside a large crater and was about to die.

Heinald immediately jumped into the crater and thrust his sword all the way down the dying Spotted Volcano Gorilla's throat, killing him on the spot.

He immediately took a large jade jar from the dimensional pocket of his robe and filled it with gorilla's blood.

Heinald came out of the crater and ran from there at full speed.

The Shadow Isle was indeed a very dangerous place inhabited by a large number of Magical Beasts. In this place, a Level 1 Ainsar would definitely not be able to survive without the help of luck.

Although he had just arrived in the Shadow Isles, he had already had to fight two dangerous creatures. He trusted himself and therefore agreed to come to this island, but he was beginning to regret it. He intended to find the remains of a cult that ruled in ancient times on this island, but if events continued like this, he would abandon his exploration and return.

Heinald was moving at full speed to reach a higher peak in the north. He concealed the energy waves he was emitting, so that no Magical Beast would sense his energy waves and attack him. However, Magical Beasts of equal power to Level 1 Ainsar, who were previously frightened by the energy he was radiating, were immediately moving away from him, this situation would no longer continue.

If he encountered a Magical Beast, he would still have to use his spiritual energy to kill or scare it.

"Oh? It looks like I'm not the only one in trouble…" Heinald saw lightning bolts rising into the sky southwest of the island. He also heard the echoes of loud roars and explosions. He didn't care too much about this event and kept walking.

With the physics he possessed, he could move much faster under normal conditions, but as he was looking for a clue, he had to go by carefully observing the environment. So it took days instead of hours for him to reach the other hill.

As Heinald looked around, as he often did from a high vantage point, he thought he saw a black statue a few miles away. His brows furrowed as he began to examine him more carefully. Although what he thought was a statue at first looked like a statue, it wasn't actually, it was a totem!

This totem of two red-eyed crow figures carved into a black stone. One of the crows was in the form of a skeleton and was tied to each other by a black chain. A strange symbol was carved into the skull of the skeletal crow.

He immediately recognized this totem. He had seen a drawing of this totem in a book he had read before. For Ainsars who were interested in Dark Magic in ancient Ainsar times, this totem meant 'Poisoned by the Curse'. According to an ancient legend, crows were the eyes of death, and where they appeared too much meant that there was a place where death was free. That's why the Ainsars built this totem where they thought were cursed.

Heinald started running towards this totem with full speed.

When he reached the totem, he observed the surroundings but did not see anything strange.

"Perhaps this totem was built here to scare anyone who would come here... Could the entrance to the ruins be somewhere around here?" While Heinald examined the totem, he also evaluated the thoughts that came to his mind.

Heinald waved his arm and Embers appeared on it.

He gripped his sword tightly and swung it with all his might. When his sword struck the totem, the top of the totem shattered into pieces. Hundreds of small stones flew into the air, and at the same time, black smoke began to spread.

The resulting black smoke merged and a figure appeared. Sᴇaʀᴄh thᴇ NʘvᴇlFirᴇ.nᴇt website on Gøøglᴇ to access chapters of nøvels early and in the highest quality.

The resulting figure was a skeleton. Its body was surrounded by black smoke, enveloping it like a cloak. Its eye sockets were like a swirl that engulfed the beholder, and it had a degenerate aura.

Heinald didn't feel any energy radiating from it, but there was a rapidly growing restlessness inside him.

The skeleton suddenly waved its right arm and three flames appeared above its head, which took the form of daggers within seconds.

"Damn it!" Heinald immediately jumped to the side.

Although he reacted quickly, it wasn't fast enough, one of the fire daggers was already flying straight towards him before he could react. He immediately sent Magical Power to his sword and wrapped it with powerful flames.

"HA!" He swung his sword and slashed the fire dagger.

A pillar of fire rose into the sky as two scorching fires collided.

"The fire this damn skeleton created at least is as strong as mine!" Heinald realized that he had to be very careful.

The two remaining daggers above the skeleton's head began flying towards him.

Narox appeared in Heinald's hand, he immediately performed a sword move and an air stripe burst out of his sword. The air stripe that burst out of his sword collided with two fire daggers, and a fierce wind of fire emerged.

Lightning bolts began to roam like a snake in Heinald's arm, then converged into a single point and took the shape of a spear. With a wave of his hand, Lightning Spear flew straight into the skeleton.

As the skeleton raised both hands, a flaming sword formed in its hands, as it brought it down, the sword collided with Lightning Spear.

Sparks and lightning streaks spread to the environment and started a fierce fire. However, this collision was not instantaneous, it continued for about five seconds between sword and spear, and finally, the lightning spear disintegrated.

As the skeleton's fire sword destroyed the spear and landed on the ground, waves of fire began to rush towards Heinald from underground like a tsunami.

"Frost Wave!" Heinald cried out. A blast of freezing air burst out of his body, and a layer of ice covered the surroundings.

Against this sudden move, the skeleton could not react and froze completely.

When Heinald saw this, he sent Magical Energy to the Embers in his hand, causing it to be wrapped in fire again. As he swung his sword, a streak of scorching fire appeared and flew towards the frozen skeleton. However, before this streak of fire reached the skeleton, five circles of lightning appeared around its body and violently exploded into the surrounding area.

"HA!" Heinald swung his sword horizontally towards the lightning wave coming towards him. As his sword collided with the powerful lightning wave, the flames covering the sword dissipated and he was thrown back.

"Arghhh!" Although Heinald wasn't directly hit by the lightning wave, multiple lightning bolts hit his body and burned several parts of his body. Smoke was rising from various parts of his body.

As the skeleton waved its arm, fierce lightning boots appeared around it.

"Infernal Fireball!" Heinald immediately began casting one of the most powerful spells he knew. Still on the ground, he straightened slightly and extended his arm towards the skeleton, three destructive fire fragments formed in front of his hand, and they came together to form a fireball that began to scorch the environment. This ball of fire flew towards the skeleton, leaving behind sparks, a scorching airwave and traces of fire.

This whole process took three seconds!

*BAM!* Fireball had hit the skeleton before it could finish casting its spell, resulting in a small-scale inferno. The scorching wave of fire had set a large area ablaze within seconds, everything in the center of the explosion was completely charred in a second. This explosion greatly illuminated the darkened air, just like a meteor crash.

Heinald kept his eyes on the center of the explosion, wanting to see this skeleton disappear.

A very interesting scene caught his eye while observing the center of the explosion. As the skeleton melted in the lava pool, the darkness surrounding it had turned into a disk and began to float above the lava pit.

Heinald grit his teeth and strode towards the lava pit, trying to ignore the pain of the burn wounds on his body. Arriving near the lava pit, he grasped the black disc and pulled it out of the lava pit.

"Is this actually a formation?" His eyes widened as Heinald examined the disc in his hand. He was able to clearly see the seals and symbols on this disc.

That skeleton nearly managed to fight him head-to-head and used a lot of spell. He had never witnessed anything like this before. If he didn't have a High Rank magic, he might even have been killed by that skeleton.

"Hmm?" As Heinald continued to examine the disk, he noticed something. This disk had an energy bond that even he could hardly see.

Heinald immediately built a seal in his mind and fed it with his spiritual energy. A formation formed around him, and beams of light emanating from this formation wrapped the disc.
