‘It’s so…close.’

Amelie swallowed her dry saliva. The bodies of the two were in close contact, so she could feel the other person’s chest going up and down as if breathing. Because Serwin leaned over to see Amelie’s eyes better, it seemed like his lips would touch hers if he tilted his head a little.

Her heartbeat rumbled like crazy. Whose heart is it? It was clear that it was hers. In fact, it was not unusual to see each other so close. Serwin was just trying to look into her thoughts as usual, and it’s not something to be nervous about.

‘I’m more concerned because Serwin likes me. This isn’t nothing.’

The only thing that changed was her perception. Amelie tried to keep calm.

At that moment, Serwin’s gaze went down her cheek and stayed on her lips. Then he looked into Amelie’s eyes. The piercing gold that she faced again contained a hot heat that she didn’t know. It was her own misunderstanding that Serwin was okay. He’s in bed with the girl he likes, there’s no way he could keep his composure.

Amelie’s face grew hot. She read in his eyes the desire for her. The golden eyes covered with darkness were beautiful, and the dangerous desire in them seemed to pull her closer.

‘It’s dangerous.’

It seemed like she was going to be enchanted by his eyes like this. Gold has charmed people. And his eyes were even more charming. His face got closer little by little. Amelie felt dizzy and closed her eyes tightly. How did the atmosphere get this way? Was it like this originally? What happens after a kiss? What does she want to do?

Amelie was so nervous that her shoulders trembled. But, contrary to Amelie’s expectation, their lips didn’t touch.

“It’s getting late. We should go to sleep.”

Serwin lowered the hand wrapped around the back of her neck and took her hand.

‘Huh? That’s it? Didn’t you mean to kiss me?’

While Amelie was panicking, Serwin laid Amelie down on the bed and covered her with a blanket. It’s as if the serious gaze just before was her own illusion.

‘Am I mistaken?’

Amelie’s face flushed red, she wasn’t aware and just closed her eyes. What did she look like in Serwin’s eyes?

‘It’s because of Lira. Lira keeps saying weird things, so I keep thinking like that!’

Amelie was so embarrassed that she felt the urge to kick the blanket. But that urge didn’t last long either. It was because of Serwin’s close body that was clinging to her, as he usually did. He rested his head on her head, holding her hand tightly in his. His body temperature quickly warmed the inside of the blanket.

‘How can I sleep like this?’

Until now, she slept well without paying any attention to it. Even when she woke up in his arms every time, she calmly evaluated that she was cozy because of his huge physique. She doesn’t understand how it could be so comfortable for now.

‘—So I’ve been sharing the same bed with a guy who likes me all this time, right? Since when did he like me? Why me?’

Amelie couldn’t sleep. This was because questions that slowly started followed one after another. Amelie recalled that she had been with Serwin from the moment she first met him until now, and it wasn’t until dawn when she was finally able to sleep.

The next day, Amelie went up to the attic early in the morning to avoid encountering Serwin. But seeing him in the dining room was unavoidable.

‘Yeah, it’s just a meal.’

Amelie thought lightly, but the moment she met him at the dining room, she realized that it was her mistake.

Serwin looked back at what she was eating, and smiled when she ate the food and smiled. It was clear that even the chef who made the food wouldn’t be watching her as eagerly as he was.

Even as she bowed her head and ate only soup, she could feel his gaze on her and her head stung. Because of that, she couldn’t tell if the food was going into her mouth or her nose.

In the end, Amelie put down the spoon when her plate wasn’t even halfway empty. Then, the maids waiting to take care of each other were very embarrassed and exchanged their eyes. It was a big deal for Amelie to put down her spoon when she didn’t finish eating.

“Are you going to stop eating? Are you sick?”

Serwin looked at Amelie worriedly, then broke a small piece of bread off and brought it to Amelie’s mouth. He didn’t forget to put Amelie’s favorite butter spread on the bread either. Amelie habitually took it.

Everyone around them looked at them and smiled warmly. It wasn’t the first time Serwin fed Amelie, and they weren’t surprised.

‘I’m an idiot. I didn’t have any clue. Why didn’t I know this?’

Recognizing that Serwin’s actions were always like this, his behavior was obviously of a man in love. She didn’t know that and accepted everything. Even without a separate explanation, there were good reasons for believing that the two people were lovers.

They might think that it is a good thing that she knows now, but it actually caused a bigger problem. It was that she couldn’t look at Serwin’s face straight at all. She was embarrassed, his face kept tickling an area of her chest whenever his and her eyes met, and her expression became strange again and again.

‘Phew.’

Amelie sighed inwardly.

“I’ll stop eating and get up first.”

She just couldn’t keep eating.

“Excuse me—. Miss Amelie, does today’s food not suit your taste?”

Milena asked anxiously. It was the first time Amelie had been passive in front of food. So she was worried about whether there was a problem with the food or her health.

“No, I’m fine. I just don’t feel like eating today.”

“What do you mean you don’t feel like eating it? I’ll get a doctor!”

“Do you feel drowsy or have a fever? If you don’t feel well. Please tell me anything.”

Naturally, the servants were outraged. Oh my. Amelie has no appetite! It was unbelievable. There must have been a major problem with her body.  sᴇaʀᴄh thᴇ NøᴠᴇlFire.nᴇt website on Gøøglᴇ to access chapters of nøvels early and in the highest quality.

“It’s not like that.”

Amelie was perplexed. No, she may have little appetite. But why are they doing that? She struggled for a long time to calm the servants. Serwin, the real culprit, only looked at her with his unknown gaze.

Eventually, Mrs. Enard and Milena called a doctor to examine Amelie’s body. Of course, Amelie was very healthy, and Lira, who came just in case, snorted.

Amelie grumbled in bed with the excuse that she was not feeling well, making up for her lack of sleep. In the middle, Serwin asked to eat together, but she refused.

By then, Serwin realized that Amelie was avoiding him.

‘Why?’

Serwin traced the memory of yesterday. Until returning to the Imperial Palace, the atmosphere was not bad.

‘Is it because of that?’

Amelie doesn’t accept gifts for no reason, so she had to put on a bold face when receiving jewelry.

Serwin frowned. She began to avoid him after he arranged and purchased jewelry. She said she was going to pray, but she was clearly just trying to avoid him.

‘Did it just have the opposite effect?’

Last time, Serwin checked the temperature difference with Amelie. His feelings were limited to Amelie only. There was nothing in the world that could replace her. But Amelie’s feelings for him were not just for him. It was no different from her liking her maid and her family.

He didn’t like this indifference very much. He himself wanted to be Amelie’s only one. At one time, he was satisfied just being by her side, but during that short time, his greed grew so fast that he was not satisfied just being next to her.

So Serwin has been thinking about how to make her like him more. It wasn’t easy. All his life, he used fear to reign supreme. When he made a loyal subordinate, he didn’t have to sway them. He presented his vision, and those who responded to it followed him.

What came out after much consideration was to buy an expensive gift. They happened to go to the jewelry store, so he showed off his wealth. The result was this.

‘It was weird in the room, too.’

From the time she returned to the room, she hesitated to look at him, and tried not to make eye contact. Serwin, who had been waiting for her to return, didn’t like her behavior very much. So he forced their eyes to meet.

‘It was so weird.’

Serwin recalled the moment. Something was different from other times. If it were any other time, she would have easily allowed it even if he were so close. She was dull and didn’t consider him a man. No matter how much he hugged, leaned, and was next to her, she would move on.

‘Compared to that, she was trembling yesterday.’

That’s why he tried to kiss her without realizing it, but stopped. Amelie shut her eyes tight and shook, making it impossible for him to kiss her the way he wanted to.

‘Why was she trembling?’

Did she become afraid of him again like she used to? Suddenly? Why? It doesn’t make sense to be afraid of him because the gift is too burdensome. He had no idea why.

She was easy to read because her emotions were always on her face. But sometimes when he couldn’t figure out what was going on inside he felt like he’d really go crazy. Serwin wanted to open her head once and see how it worked.

“Haa.”

Serwin sighed deeply. Whenever he was curious about the other person’s intentions, he would devise a scheme to force the other person to say everything. However, he was reluctant to do so because he was afraid that it would backfire when the opponent became Amelie.

‘What would Amelie do at this time?’

If he had suddenly changed his attitude, Amelie would have thought about it and would come to ask him directly. She was usually calm and timid, but when she ran into him, she didn’t hold back.

‘Then I’ll ask her directly.’

Serwin got up from his seat. Then the aides rose together.

“Where are you going, Your Majesty?”

“I’ll go outside for a while.”

“It’s time for the meeting, Your Majesty.”

“Put it off.”

“They’re all here already. Today’s meeting was requested by the Marquis of Lewin, so you must attend.”

“Tsk. Is it the Marquis of Lewin again?”

If the Marquis had requested, all the prominent nobles would come. A day will pass by when the nobles of his faction are clamoring for their tails. If he went in now, he would have spent the entire afternoon in the conference room.

‘You’re the biggest obstacle to life.’

Serwin clicked his tongue. The aides made a careful suggestion while looking at him.

“Well, I think we can finish the greenhouse you ordered by the evening. How about going there with Miss Amelie after the meeting?”

“It would be nicer to have a light on and go when it’s dark. Because it sparkles Miss Amelie will like it too.”

It took great courage for the aides to say this,Serwin didn’t ask them to come up with the idea, but they suggested it themselves. They nervously waited for Serwin’s answer.

“It’s a greenhouse. It’s not bad. I’ll do that, so prepare it.”

“Yes!”

“Yes. I understand!” They agreed one after another.

The faces of the aides were bright.
