Then everything makes sense.

The Shadow Guild had ties to the Church, so in retaliation, they must have deliberately faked the holy water as a potion to get back at Kim Soo Yong.

How dare these b*stards pull such a scam on David’s estate, I can’t forgive them!

I think I should just chop them up and drink their blood to make myself feel better.

Even if you were chosen by the constellation and called a saint by the saint herself, it is impossible to forgive their behavior.

Surely even Satan would weep for their humanity.

Kane opened his mouth with a serious face.

“Kim Soo-yong, I think I know who the culprits are.”

“What? You think you know?”

“Yes. I think it’s the Church.”

Hearing Kane’s words, Kim Soo-Yong tilted his head in confusion.

“Them? Why would they do something like this?”

“When have they ever had a reason? Anyway, when I investigated the Shadow Guild you destroyed, I found some kind of drug of some kind.”

“What?! There was such a thing?”

“Uh, and I know the people producing the drugs are members of the Church.”

Kane’s words left him speechless for a moment. Kane continued.

“Did it have a similar appearance to the potion holy water you drank?”

Kim’s eyes widened, his shoulders twitching as he realised he had hit the nail on the head. Kane continued, ignoring his reaction.

“How about this. Didn’t your throat get a little hot while you were drinking?”

“That’s right! It definitely did.”

“Then it is. The miasma I found in the Shadow Guild was that. hmmm.”

Kane sighed heavily, looking like he was regrets deeply, and continued.

“….We should have caught them sooner, but now that the criminals in our territory have been cleaned up, I have a special gift for you.”

“A gift?”

At Kane’s words, he looked perplexed. Kane reaches out his hand to Kim’s face.

His eyes squeezed shut as he was suddenly caught by surprise by Kane’s hand.

However, contrary to his expectations, his broken bones, dislocated bones, and damaged organs slowly returned to normal.

Kim Soo-yong opens his closed eyes as he realises that he is now recovering.

“Huh?! How?!”

“I told you, I’m giving you a present.”

And with that, Kim Soo-yong removed all the bandages from his body. After a moment of speechlessness, he clutched his hand and released it.

Okay. It’s a little different from the original, but I don’t care if it’s this different.

“Then I have work to do, so I’ll be going. Take care.”

Kim Soo-yong didn’t even reply to Kane’s words, somehow taken back by the whole situation.

[Goddess of Destiny is surprised by your humanity —- No nothing].

No. I’d rather you talk, you b*stard.

With that, Kane left the room, fuming at the Constellation.

***

It had been a minute or so since Kane had left the room. When he came to his senses, he looked up.

“He’s changed. He’s definitely changed.”

In truth, Kim doesn’t know Kane very well. He’s only seen him from afar in the first semester, mostly drinking and bullying.

But he can tell.

The person Kane is today is very different from the person he was then.

Whereas back then, he seemed desperate and broken, today, he’s more relaxed, and he’s kinder.

But apart from the change, how did he heal my body?

Obviously, my physical condition was not a joke. I had consumed the drugs produced by the Church during the golem extermination mission, but instead of increasing my physical strength, I felt dizzy.

In that state, I was indiscriminately attacked by the golems, and my organs and bones were crushed beyond belief.

I managed to survive, though, as the Royal Academy gave me a teleportation scroll just in case.

However, at the hospital, an apparently high-ranking priest told me that my body would need at least a week to heal with compete bed rest.

Kane had just healed a wound that a high priest said would take a week to heal.

My understanding is that Kane is incompetent, so how did that happen?

I’m frustrated.

Usually, when I don’t know something, I can ask Constellation and she tells me, but since she suddenly disappeared, I feel like I’m in the dark.

Ugh… Stop relying on Constellation.

If you want to survive in this world, you can’t rely on anyone.

The only person you can completely trust is yourself.

So, in the end, was Kane really incompetent?

“– On second thought, it was just a rumour that he was incompetent. I’ve never seen him in action, and his personality could just be a result of something that happened to him at the time.”

The rumors I’d heard were that he was a broken man with a broken character. I too thought so, when I saw him drinking and throwing water.

But, the Kane I saw now, far from being a bad character, but appeared to be a righteous man.

He seemed to be incredibly frustrated when he realized that innocent adventurers, including himself, had been defrauded by the Church.

Not only that, but even if I did manage to get rid of the Shadow Guild, he was able to heal a wound that even a high-ranking priest couldn’t easily heal.

It must not have been easy to heal.

I don’t know what kind of ability Kane used, but he was able to heal his own body, which was almost battered, in one shot. He couldn’t have done that without paying a price.

Come to think of it, the David family anonymously offered to help me get rid of the Shadow Guild, didn’t they? Huh? No way….

Now that I think about it, it’s strange that the David family would anonymously support me for destroying the Shadow Guild.

Maybe I should have brought it out in the open.

But after what Kane did today? It all makes sense.

He supports me, and he sacrifices something today to heal my wounds too.

There’s no doubt about it, it’s Kane who supports me.

I don’t know why he’s doing it, but all I know is that he’s helping me and good person.

“I’ll have to repay this debt someday.”

With that thought, he checked his physical condition once more before leaving the room.

***

After leaving the hospital, I walked back towards the academy’s main building.

Hmmm… What lectures am I going to take anyway?

Honestly, the only thing I can think of that I have a talent for right now is ‘that’.

The problem is, I don’t know if I should call it talent or potential, but it’s the only thing that gives me hope.

But I’m sure I’ll be treated like a crazy person if I apply for a course based on that.

… No. Maybe it doesn’t matter if I’m treated that way now?

Professor Williams didn’t look at me today, but I’m sure he’s thinking the same as his students. And I bet the other professors do, too.

So what’s the harm in being treated that way now?

I’ve been treated like a crazy person to the point of getting sick of it and I’m going to go along with it, even if professor thinks so, what’s the big deal?

Well, that’s one decision I made.

Now I just need to think of two more to meet the minimum grades.

Firstly, I need to get fit and strong, so PE is a must.

I have nothing to lose by training those two, no matter what kind of power I’m dealing with.

That leaves one more to go….

The only one worth taking is the swordsmanship class, which is the hardest I’ve ever trained for.

But. I’m honestly not that talented.

Obviously, Thomas, Eileen, and Marc are very talented in swordsmanship and aura, but I can’t help but feel that Kane has no talent whatsoever.

As I walk along, pondering my options, the Constellation sends me a message.

[Goddess of Destiny asks what’s bothering you so much].

Hmmm… I’ll ask her.

Though I don’t understand the constellation, she is a fairly long-lived woman, so she is quite knowledgeable.

Okay. Let’s ask her.

“Hey, what do you think would be the best lecture for me to take?”

[Goddess of Destiny suggests taking a lecture on the constellations].

“Isn’t that a f*ck*ng boring?”

[Goddess of Destiny disagrees!!!]

No. Honestly, it’s boring.

Of course, there’s no guarantee that the other lectures will be as interesting, but frankly, I’m afraid that, at best, the Constellation lectures are like going to church and reading the Bible.

I don’t talk if it would help me.

Even though I pretty much know the game’s settings, I’m not convinced I need to listen to that.

[Goddess of Destiny explains how much fun the Constellation Lecture is].

“No. I don’t really want to know.”

[Goddess of Destiny says confidently that you can get to know her for yourself].

“Nah, not necessary. I don’t want to know.”

Despite declining her offer, the constellation continues to message me to explain herself, ignoring my words.

I just ignore her. I’m an idiot for expecting anything.

I ignore Constellation’s self-bragging messages and stroll into William’s lab.

***

Arriving at William’s lab, I knocked on the door.

“Professor. It’s Kane ca–….”

“Yeah. Come in.”

Before I could finish my sentence, William spoke first, opening the door and walking in.

The lab is similar to William’s image, with books scattered on the floor and the desk similarly unorganized.

.

!….

They say that real contemplation is science, so if they’re right, let’s go.

Although, to be fair, William’s face looks like it belongs in the corner of a room at home.

While I was mulling over the idea of contemplation, he spoke up with an expressionless face.

“So, have you decided what lectures you’re going to take?”

“I have, except for one.”

“Hmph, what’s there to choose between? Considering your family, aren’t swordsmanship, aura practices, and physical fitness a good three?”

Well, common sense says yes.

But the problem is that this body has gone beyond common sense.

“Well, that’s true, but after what happened in the first term, I’m going to skip Swordsmanship and Aura Manipulation and take Magic.”

“What?!”

William looks at me like I don’t know what I’m talking about.

I suppose that reaction is to be expected.

The children of House David, as they say, are gifted in swordsmanship and aura manipulation

But despite my best efforts, I have no such talent. Therefore, I tested myself to see if I had an aptitude for magic.

I don’t know if I do, but I definitely felt quite a bit of magic in my body, unlike the cramped aura.

But. Even if I had magic, I couldn’t learn it on my own, as there was no one in my knight family who could teach me magic.

So I did nothing but focus on building my magic over the holidays. I didn’t do anything more than that.

Well, not exactly.

And first of all, to make an excuse that isn’t an excuse. I honestly didn’t know how to use magic by myself when I was playing the game and was just pressing buttons.

It’s not like I’m incompetent at all.

It’s natural.

Just as I’m screaming in frustration. William opened his mouth with a grim face.

“Hmm. It’s your choice, so there’s no need for me to talk you out of it. I see.”

Hmmm… unexpected?

Honestly, as a professor, I would have expected him to force me to change the lecture I chose, but he didn’t say anything to show that he respected my choice.

I thought it was a bit surprising.

Judging by the way he’s showing signs of being bothered by everything, that’s another one.

Yeah. I guess he just allowed it because he thought it was annoying.

William yawned as he wiped a tear from his eye and asked.

“Hmm…so what are you going to do with the other one?”

At his question, I slowly opened my mouth.
