Chapter 4: The Man with a Mouthful of Leaking Electric Eel?
Lu Ming personally examined the condition of the stabbed assailant and studied various medical videos. The injuries, fortunately, were superficial, not affecting any vital organs, major blood vessels, bones, or soft cartilage tissues.
While Lu Ming was not an expert in disability assessment, he had some knowledge in the field through his friends.
In the assailant’s case, it seemed unlikely that he would even qualify for a minor injury evaluation. Disability assessments typically require waiting for a stable recovery, usually two to three months. However, in this situation, the injuries would likely heal in a week or two.
Nevertheless, to be cautious, Lu Ming contacted a friend who specialized in disability assessments, who came to the hospital the next day to evaluate the assailant’s condition.
“Dr. Liu, are you doing me a favor for free?” The specialist asked, examining the medical images. “This injury doesn’t even meet the criteria for a minor injury. It’s evident.”
The specialist continued, “But I must acknowledge that the person who inflicted these stabbings is remarkably skilled. Avoiding vital areas with eighteen stabs is truly impressive, even for me.”
A touch of admiration appeared on the assessor’s face.
“Oh, wait a minute,” the specialist suddenly said, turning to Lu Ming. “Could it be that this ‘stabbing genius’ is somehow connected to you?”
Lu Ming reluctantly admitted, “Yes, the ‘stabbing genius’ you’re referring to is my girlfriend.”
The assessor was surprised. “Your girlfriend is this fierce? But didn’t I meet her at our last dinner? She was a sweet and gentle nurse then, and I was envious.”
The assessor’s admiration for Lu Ming turned into sympathy.
Lu Ming sighed his hand on his forehead. “I genuinely hope those criminals never target her again.”
“Otherwise, they’ll face consequences they can’t even fathom.”
The assessor patted Lu Ming on the shoulder and said, “I’d advise you not to argue with her.”
After offering some well-intentioned advice, the disability assessment specialist confirmed once more that the assailant’s injuries did not even come close to being considered minor. With that, they left.
Lu Ming looked at the assailant lying in the hospital bed, his smile gradually widening. When the assailant woke up and realized he had been stabbed eighteen times but couldn’t claim compensation for even minor disability expenses and was also facing charges for carrying weapons and causing trouble, he’d likely be overwhelmed with frustration. Nonetheless, it was a just punishment for the assailant.
After ensuring Tang Xiaorou wouldn’t be charged with excessive self-defense, Lu Ming breathed a sigh of relief. He messaged Tang Xiaorou to inform her of the situation.
Just as he was about to send the message, a WeChat video call appeared. Lu Ming sighed again, realizing that his somewhat unreliable intern, who had sought his help before, was again seeking assistance.
Lu Ming ended the call and looked at his chat interface:

“A peculiar case?” Lu Ming found it intriguing. Could it be a medical case he hadn’t encountered before? Curiosity piqued, and he made his way to the outpatient clinic. He reached the dental department on the second floor.
“Zhanbo, what’s happening?” Lu Ming pushed the door to examination room one of the dental department.
Chen Zhanbo was an intern Lu Ming had mentored, and just over a month ago, he had become an attending physician. Now, he could see patients independently in the outpatient clinic.
Inside the examination room, besides Chen Zhanbo, there was a young man and a young woman who seemed to be a young couple or newlyweds.
“Doctor, is this the ‘teacher’ you mentioned?”
“This ‘teacher’ of yours looks younger than you, doesn’t he?” Ye Mengqi felt like she had been misled.
Though Chen Zhanbo was only 29 years old, his thick beard made him look about 35, so compared to him, Lu Ming did indeed seem younger.
“He’s my teacher, Lu Ming,” Chen Zhanbo clarified.
“Don’t underestimate him just because you’ve made an appointment with him. You’re not guaranteed to see him!” Chen Zhanbo quickly introduced Lu Ming. “He’s a chief physician!”
“Do you think I’m easily fooled?”
“Chief physician?”
“Don’t chief physicians usually need to be over 40? It takes many years to become one! We have a family member who studies medicine!” Ye Mengqi’s husband, Bao Hongwei, countered.
“Both of you, that’s not the issue,” Chen Zhanbo interjected. “I’d like to know, what’s your main medical concern?”
Lu Ming was accustomed to skepticism, so he had his way of handling it: steer the conversation towards the patient’s condition and then demonstrate his expertise.
“Alright, I’ll give you a chance,” Ye Mengqi said skeptically. “But don’t make up stories, or I’ll file a complaint against you.”
Ye Mengqi reluctantly described her primary complaint to Lu Ming. She felt a tingling sensation in her mouth as if she had been shocked with electricity. It was intermittent and not continuous, but it was particularly pronounced when she kissed her husband, Bao Hongwei.
“Numb mouth? Electric shock sensation?” Lu Ming inquired.
Lu Ming rubbed his chin. Chen Zhanbo hadn’t misled him. This was indeed a unique case. Could it be a neurological issue or perhaps a food allergy?
“Yes, every time we kiss, I can feel that tingling sensation,” Bao Hongwei added. “I even suspect that my wife has transformed into a fully charged electric eel in human form.”
Bao Hongwei sounded like a victim as he shared his amusing experiences.
“You, get lost!”
“You’re the one who’s transformed into a fully charged electric eel!”
“Your entire family has become fully charged electric eels!”
Frustrated, Ye Mengqi pinched Bao Hongwei’s thigh hard, making him yelp in pain. While Lu Ming contemplated possible causes, he couldn’t help but smirk at the corner of his mouth.
A damn fully charged electric eel in human form…
